MobiFix - Blending experience on mobile and TV

_

In 2010, the MobiFix project focuses on the following mobile-fixed integration scenarios for media delivery:

  • Delivery of personalized linear and on-demand content services to mobile devices, both in the home as well as outside the home, while keeping network cost within reasonable bounds.
  • Using mobile devices both as service consumption devices (to watch TV on for example), but also as service control points, allowing selection and control of personal content services.

The project aims in selecting and profiling current “global” standards into a multi-screen multimedia delivery profile by demonstrating these scenarios, keeping as close as possible to available standardization work. The implementation of these services may highlight lack in standardization or the need to profile available standards.

The work item is chaired by Franklin Selgert, KPN.

The Mobifix project has started in 2009. In its first year it identified several issues relating to the delivery of television to mobile phones via a WiFi network and ensuring seamless operation of multi-device services.
