Generic business models

In 2010, the "Generic Business Models" work item focuses on business models for traffic off-loading from mobile networks to broadcast and fixed (including WiFi) delivery networks.

Off-loading traffic parts to broadcast and WiFi networks may be a solution to meet the expected mobile network congestion. Existing business models do not consider the dynamic usage of different networks for mass media delivery to mobile devices.

The project will consider the following topics:

• Costs analysis for offloading cases
• Analysis of business model scenarios
• Business case scenarios with sensitivity analysis
• Off-load traffic selection
• Use cases for a broadcast network
• Unicast and broadcast overlay scenarios

The work item is chaired by Herbert Mittermayr, Alcatel-Lucent.
