The “Broadcast Mobile Convergence Forum” (bmcoforum) is an international non-profit organisation designed to shape open markets for media delivery.

bmcoforum addresses the use of personal mobile devices in delivering relevant audiovisual content and services wherever, whenever by the best delivery channel.

  • Solaris Mobile: Insurance claim (2009 07 02)

    Solaris Mobile is making an insurance claim because its S-band payload is showing “significant non-compliance from its original specifications”. Following an investigation, Solaris should still be able to offer some “but not all” of the services it was planning to offer.

  • Mobile DTV Alliance finalized its activities (2009 07 01)

    After succeeding in its mission, the US based Mobile DTV Alliance finalized its activities on June 30, 2009.

  • Poland: DVB-H service to launch in August (2009 06 30)

    Poland’s first DVB-H mobile TV service is likely to launch in August. Info-TV-FM recently concluded agreements with various TV channels, which have been included in regulator UKE’s licensing decision.

  • Korea: 50% pop use mobile TV (2009 06 29)

    TU Media reported that the number of its S-DMB subscribers topped 2 million four years after it launched the service. In addition, more than 20 million T-DMB devices, including mobile phones, were also sold as of the end of May.

  • China: Research project on mobile TV audience (2009 06 26)

    VisionChina Media, one of China's largest digital television advertising networks on mass transportation systems, has joined hands with CCTV Mobile Media and CTR Market Research in launching a research project on mobile TV audience and environment on the public transportation system.

  • India: Rcom to offer mobile TV on GSM (2009 06 26)

    Reliance Communications plans to offer Mobile TV services on its GSM network. Currently, RCOM offers Mobile TV services on its CDMA network with over 13 news and TV channels using its real-time streaming technology.

  • USA: FLO cuts prices (2009 06 26)

    FLO TV plans to drop the price down, probably less that $10 a month for an annual plan, pricing one day passes at perhaps $5 a month, while month-to-month subscriptions may cost around the $10 mark. It is also looking to WiFi gadgets.

  • Nigeria: Commercial DVB-H launched (2009 06 25)

    MTN Nigeria has launched a DVB-H based mobile TV service in collaboration with DMtv. The services promises MTN subscribers in the metropolitan areas of Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja and Port Harcourt a bouquet of nine channels.

  • Namibia: Commercial DVB-H launched (2009 06 25)

    MTC Namibia has launched a DVB-H based mobile TV service in collaboration with Multichoice Namibia. The services promises MTC subscribers in the metropolitan area of Windhoek a bouquet of ten channels.
